ROTATION AND REVOLUTION PART-2

Good Morning boys
Hope you have revised the previous topic. Today we'll discuss about formation of ' Days and Nights'

By the end of the lesson, you will be able to:
  • comprehend how days and nights are caused.
  • illustrate the formation of days and nights diagrammatically(using a diagram)
So let's get started!
Earth's rotation causes day and night.
As the Earth rotates, the part facing the Sun experiences day,
while the part away from the Sun experiences night.

Earth's rotation also has an effect on dates.
The eastern hemisphere is ahead of the western hemisphere by a day.
  • This is because the earth rotates from west to east.
  • It means, that in 24 hours, the places located in the eastern hemisphere face the sun and turn away from it before places located in the western hemisphere.
  • This is the reason why, when it is 1st January in India, it is the night of 31st December in USA.
  • This is because India, being in eastern hemisphere, is ahead of USA  which is in the western hemisphere.
Now click on the given link below to understand about formation of days and nights:

I hope you must have understood the concept. So now its time for some written work!
Take out your S.St notebooks and continue the written work.
