ROTaTION AND REVOLUTION PART  -  8

GOOD MORNING STUDENTS.
I am sure you must have completed the previous work. Today we'll do a few more questions and conclude the chapter. But before we continue, let's go through the message written below.

*We, at St. Columba's School, are ready to take the next step - and move towards using Google Classroom as a tool to enhance the teaching learning environment.

The school is starting the process for giving school official email id to each student.

Please go through the E-circular and Principal's video that explains the
* Importance of these ids
* Steps to be followed by the student to login to the school id.

Watch the video and listen to Brother's message carefully.

By the end of the lesson, you will be able to

  • recall the concepts learnt in this chapter
  • apply your understanding to answer the questions
  • find the answers of objective exercises
So let's get started. Take out your S.St notebooks and continue the question answers:

C.W:
Q. What do you understand by equinox? Why do equinoxes take place during spring and autumn season?

Ans The sun shines twice directly over the equator. This is called equinox. During equinox, the length of day and night are equal. So the equinoxes occur on 21 March and 23 September.

Q. Why does Antarctica in the southern hemisphere experience each season for half a year?

Ans This is because being at the extreme poles, during revolution it is either directly facing the sun or away from the sun.

Now open your reader and complete Ex A and Ex B in the book itself. We' ll discuss the answers.

Now I'm sharing the answers with you

Ex A.  (1). Rotation and Revolution (2.) 24 hours, 365 daysand 6 hours (3.) orbit (4.) 366 (5.) winter solstice, summer solstice

Ex B. (1.) F    (2.) F    (3.) T     (4.) F    (5.) F

So that's all for today. We'll begin with a new chapter in our next class.
