REALMS OF THE EARTH PART 2

Good morning boys!

As by now you know, components of the Earth are called realms or spheres. These include lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

• define lithosphere
• differentiate between Earth's layers

Today, we are going to learn more about

LITHOSPHERE

So what do you understand from the the term 'Lithosphere'?

Lithosphere is the realm of land.

It consists of three layers:

• the crust
• the mantle
• the core

The core is further divided into the inner core and the outer core.

Now boys, the deeper we go inside the Earth, the hotter it becomes.

As a result, the layers of the Earth change from a solid to semi-solid state gradually.

Only the inner core remains solid and why is that? 🤔

💡💡💡The inner core remains solid due to the immense/ extreme force exerted on it by the upper layers.

All of these layers are composed of rocks and minerals.

CRUST- forms the uppermost layer of the Earth

MANTLE- is the middle layer of the Earth

CORE- is the innermost layer of the Earth
