Wow! What a fresh morning it is!
So boys, let us do some briefing of what you have learnt till now:
- the components of the earth which makes life possible
- the earth's system consists of four major realms
Lithosphere (land)
Hydrosphere (water)
Atmosphere (air)
Biosphere (life of plants and animals)
In the previous class, you have learnt about Lithosphere where there are 3 layers inside it.
You've also learnt how to draw layers of the Earth.
We now proceed to the next realm of the Earth, which is HYDROSPHERE.
On completion of the topic you will be able to:
* define the term hydrosphere
* explain the different ways in which water is used
* identify and describe the processes involved in the water cycle

HYDROSPHERE
Hydrosphere refers to that part of the Earth that is covered with water.
It covers nearly 71 per cent of the Earth's surface and only 29 per cent of land.
Therefore, the Earth is known as a BLUE PLANET.
Hydrosphere consists of water in all forms, like:
oceans, rivers, lakes, underground water, water vapour in the atmosphere
and also in the form of snow and glaciers on the mountain peaks.
Children, do you know that water, in all its forms, is constantly moving!
This continuous movement of water is known as WATER CYCLE.
CYCLE? YES, CYCLE.
You all know what a cycle is! Many of you must be very fond of riding a cycle.
Have you ever noticed the movement of a cycle?
It moves round and round . And this movement helps the cycle to move forward.
Similarly, water, moves continuously.
Watch this video which is explaining about the Water cycle.
I hope now the meaning of the Water Cycle is very much clear to you.
In this video, we've come across the three stages of the water cycle;
Evaporation : process by which water changes to vapour
Condensation : process by which vapour changes to water
Precipitation : any form of water falling on Earth; snow
We'll stop here now and do some Classwork. Continue with the topic writing today's date
giving the title HYDROSPHERE
Q.1 What is hyrosphere?
Ans. Hydrosphere is the sphere of water. It includes water in all forms.
Q.2. Why is the Earth known as the 'Blue Planet'?
Ans. The Earth is known as the Blue Planet because it covers nearly 71 per cent
of the earth's surface.
Q.3. Define 'Water Cycle'.
Ans Thecirculation of water from sea to air and back again is called a water cycle.
This involves evaporation, condenstion and precipitation.
Q.4. Draw a diagram of Water cycle:
Have A Very Nice Day !!
