Good morning boys !

Let us continue our journey from huge,majestic mountains , wide, deep seas in North and South America to the journey towards icy land.

Let's have a recap: 7 Continents, Asia being the largest.

Today we are going to learn some facts about ANTARCTICA

           
             

Can you see the red shaded area on the world map ?
YES! This is Antarctica !

Antarctica is the fifth largest continent on the planet earth . It is also known as the White continent or the Frozen continent because it is covered by a thick layer of permanent ice which makes it the coldest continent in the world. Therefore, survival of humans is very difficult over here. Only scientists stay here to perform research work.
Penguins, seals, whales and albastross are found in this freezing continent.

EUROPE

Europe is the sixth largest continent in the world . It is the most industrialised continent as some advanced countries like United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy are a part of it.
It is often known as the peninsular of peninsulas. Do you know why? 

NEW WORD- 
1) peninsular- piece of land surronded by water all 3 sides

It has 2 reasons: i) It has several peninsulas like the Scandinavian, Balkan and Italian.
                          ii) It itself, looks like a giant peninsula The Arctic Ocean  on the north, the Atlantic                                   Ocean on the west and the Mediterranean Sea 
                       

AUSTRALIA

Till now we have talked only about the largest continents of the world. Now we will study about the smallest continent, Australiac . It includes New Zealand and other small islands collectively know as Oceania. 

It's prominent features are : the Great Barrier Reef which is a famous coral reef.

The other feature is the highest peak of this continent, Mt. Kosciuszko.
