ROTATION AND REVOLUTION    (PART 1)

Good morning, boys!

Today, you are going to learn something interesting !

Guess what?

Before we start, let's recall that we have,so far, learnt about the shape of the earth, 

finding places through latitudes and longitudes.

Our next journey towards learning will be about The Movements of the Earth.

So,today, you will be able to:

# learn about the axis

# comprehend the significance of motions of the earth

                                                MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH

The Earth moves in two ways --- rotation and revolution. (the two R's of the Earth)

                         

• Rotation refers to the spinning movement of the Earth on its axis.
• Revolution refers to the movement of the Earth around the Sun.
• Both these movements take place at the same time.

                                         

By watching this video, you must have easily learnt about the terms Rotation and Revolution.

Do you know how does the Earth rotate?

Well! It has its own axis on which it rotates.

Axis! another new term! ( I'll give you its meaning.)

                                                       

The axis of the earth is an imaginary line.

*It passes straight from the North Pole to the South Pole through the center of the Earth.

*It is tilted at an angle of  23½°  from the center of the Earth.

*It takes 24 hours for the Earth to complete one single rotation around its axis.
